Well this week went by in a flash but I’m not complaining. Rain makes for a moody Sassy and with the sun peeking out today and promise of no rain for my Lion Run tomorrow I’m feeling pretty darn excited.
Throughout the week I have been dreaming about Summer and all clothes relating to such. With all the bright colors and prints that made their debut this Spring I’ve been hoping for an even bigger splash of color to trend for Summer sandals. You won’t see me disappointed by what is popping up and so I’m sharing my faves:
Thanks to my addiction to pinterest I was recently connected to Lioness Xpressions, a designer of handmade crochet jewelry and accessories. Look at the vibrant creativity! I have visions of making simple T’s & shorts pop with one of these cuffs or pair of earrings thrown in the mix.
What is it about the color combination of black & white that makes such a statement to most people? Perhaps it is due to the absolute contrast of both as well as its overwhelming ability to mesh together so perfectly. I’m not sure I’ll ever truly understand its immense power to draw me in but whether displayed in a photograph, interior design or throughout a persons wardrobe the mixing of black and white almost always conjures up descriptive terms like classy, appealing, vintage, cool and timeless.
Thanks to Pinterest I’ve discovered some wonderful foodie bloggers and rather enjoy trying new creations from my visual recipe box. Today I’m featuring a wonderful cupcake from Annie’s Eats that is perfect for Spring. How do you go wrong with the combination of blueberry & lemon? Personally I find cupcakes to be perfect all year round… breakfast/lunch and dinner. 😉
So whip up a batch for you and a friend. And if you really want to impress them you should grab some edible hummingbirds from SugarRobot to top em off… how sweet would that be?
Tomorrow morning we book our first trip to Cape Cod and all are excited! This place holds some wonderful memories for my husband when he was a child. He seems quite eager to share this experience with our 3 kids and see if we collectively agree that this should be adopted as a yearly tradition. I for one am excited for some real beach fun in the sun, instagram shares and whale watching of course!
I’ve been wanting to put together a feature that showcases all of the wonderful finds I’ve encountered throughout the week. I realize that I could simply tap into my obsession with pinterest and find a suitable board for housing these treasures but I didn’t think that would suffice. So with that I bring you my Weekly Wonders and will create a new list of delightful finds each and every Friday. Enjoy!
Pressed flowers used in any creation are divine. This Red & Cream Roses bangle caught my eye while I was exploring Etsy and I thought it could make a great gift for any special chica in your life. Spotted Dog Farm is one of my new favorite boutiques!
While I was creating a Coachella pinboard for ThreadsenceI couldn’t help but give in to all of the items in their Aztec Empire collection. Suddenly I was searching for all things fringe. This trend is popping up everywhere for Summer essentials too and I love it.
Circle scarves are one of my favorite accessories. They are simple in nature but still have the ability to transform an outfit. Thanks to another wonderful tutorial from A Beautiful Mess I can now create a unique scarf by way of resist dying. (aka tie-dyeing) Just yesterday I was throwing out ideas for an afternoon Summer craft party and decided that tie-dying maxi dresses + creating the perfect sundae should be placed on the calendar pronto!
Thanks to the Sephora Color Wash Contest I’ve discovered a new fascination with yellow. Now that Spring has sprung and thoughts of Summer are swirling around in my head, I’ve been so in love with the sun. This prompted me to choose the color yellow as my focus for the contest board and it has been so fun putting it together. Try doing a search on your favorite color through pinterest if you haven’t already… the finds are out of this world!
Blonde…Red…Brown…oh the choices one has to make! This Saturday I’m scheduled to get my hair done and as of yet don’t know which way to go. When Spring was first approaching I swore I would go red simply due to it looking gorgeous with the color yellow and that was my chosen go-to color for the new season. Add to that my absolute fascination with Christiana Hendriks who has the most gorgeous hair color around.
Now with Spring in full swing and sunny days starting to shine through (finally) I’m looking towards the *next* season, SUMMER! My mind always wanders to thoughts of suntans and beaches and sand and well, blonde hair. That is how I visualize myself even though 3 kids later my hair hasn’t exactly complied with such. Amazing the changes that occur from head to toe once you have children… but that is a whole other blog post. 😉
So what will it be? Shall I take the plunge and say “make me a blonde again please” or find solace with my brunette self and simply enhance those flavors? Or will I really make a splash in my photos and brave red hair for the first time ever in my life? Stay tuned… Follow my blog with Bloglovin
