Wordless Wednesday: Two Digits

In less than ten days my oldest daughter will be two digits… the big  1 0 ! As much as becoming a teenager seemed like a big deal when I was younger, it seems these days preteens are ruling the scene. Hunter is an amazing daughter and the best big Sister to her younger siblings. We always felt, however that she did a horrible job preparing us for what being a parent was all about because she was “too good”. lol we never remember hearing the words ‘no’ from her or having to reprimand her for much of anything. Perhaps that was because she was the only child and therefore gained all of our attention? The world may never know but the fact is that with 2 toddlers now in the mix we definitely turned Hunter’s world upside down too. 🙂 She took it all in stride and has the perfect amount of patience to help out with them but also find her me-me time which is crucial. She keeps my world sane at times and is a beautiful soul. Her love of animals has never changed and we all still assume that she will one day be a vet or run the hugest animal shelter in the world! I’m so proud to be her Mom and watch her take on new challenges without a fear in the world.

So much for wordless right? 😉

A proud Mom who can’t believe how fast 10yrs flew by!

Feelings of Gratitude

This morning I woke up with my 4yr old sleeping next to me (again) and despite the fact that I do not sleep well when she jumps into my bed I was just so grateful to have her there. My husband and I know that one day this trend of 2am visits from Lucy will end and we may actually miss it a bit.

Many of us can’t help but find ourselves feeling grateful for what we have today especially after the recent top news story of the shooting in Colorado. My heart goes out to all those who lost family and friends that evening… to those in the theatre who were injured by a horrendous situation.  I can’t imagine their lives will ever be the same and it makes my heart sad for each of them.

It is so difficult to understand what compels someone to commit such violent acts but if you watch the news even just barely you see that it is a common trend in the world these days. So I’m feeling grateful that today my family is safe at home with me. I remind myself that the world won’t/can’t be like this forever and there is promise of a better future for everyone… especially those whose lives have ended so abruptly and unfairly.

Current Crush: Zebras

Zebra Mode
Thanks to Modocat.com I’ve been obsessing over zebras lately. I just adore the Zebra Print Top shown above and have yet to decide if I need it in white or black. (any suggestions would be truly helpful lol) Add to that my oldest daughter has decided the theme for school shopping this year is animal prints and well you get the picture. We’ve both been having a lot of fun window shopping online for cool looks and as of now anything with a zebra print is topping our lists. While black and white is a bit of a staple concerning such I have to admit that seeing blasts of pink and turquoise in the mix is fun too!

Got a favorite animal or print? Do share 🙂

Current Crush Thursdays

Wordless Wednesday: ScottCakes

Hmm I’m really not good at the ‘wordless’ part but my girls just LOVED the pink cupcakes… I mean ‘scottcakes’ they had while in Provincetown last week. They tried the iced mini cakes and then went back for seconds to enjoy a soft and dreamy regular one. YUM! 🙂 If you visit the town and you find yourself on Commercial street and you wonder how dare they put up a poster touting THE BEST cupcake… so much so that they find no need to offer any additional flavors? Well try one and then you too will be in the know. lol

Treasures From The Bay

We just got back from Cape Cod this past weekend and it was honestly the best family vacation we’ve had thus far! (and yes we’ve done Disney lol) The weather could not have been more perfect, sunny or beautiful. The water was deliciously warm and I am so delighted that we are making this a yearly family tradition. As big animal lovers, visiting the seals and whales in their natural environment was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Spending the day in Provincetown was another highlight thanks to some unique shops and galleries. One of my favorite spots was Wild Rice… a boutique housing vintage jewelry as well as gorgeously vibrant prints shown in the picture above. I bought a convertible skirt with a navy blue polka dot print on one side and purple flowers on the other. Love it!!! I can’t wait to see what other pieces the store holds for me next Summer.

What do you find yourself looking/shopping for while on vacation?

Current Crush Thursday

Yay! I am so honored to be co-hosting this week’s Current Crush Thursday!  (thanks DanielleAs usual I’m finding myself drawn to nature quite a bit. I’ve already professed my love for leaves and trees and now my eye has turned towards butterflies. They are fluttering all over the community and the lake… my kids and I can’t help but be in awe of their colors, gracefulness and beauty. As with most things in nature, butterflies translate rather well on just about anything… dresses, sandals, bags and even jewelry!

Enjoying Simple Treasures

Enjoying Simple Treasures

Truth be told I am quite a tree hugger. I just love their form in nature, art and even jewelry. This week has been full of gorgeous sunny days and I’m loving the sway of the trees near the lake when playing with the little ones. I invite all to take a minute and enjoy something simple like a tree, the breeze, a smile, perhaps a photo… your pick!

If you pin then feel free to click the tree to view images I considered ‘A Thing of Beauty’ and go ahead and follow/repin/link etc. 🙂 I’m always happy to do the same.

Have a beautiful day!
